I’ve been brainstorming simple ways to spark collaboration since I started CollabStack in October. I began with the monthly Call for Collaboration, then I created the CollabStack Directory.
I love that I started these, and I’m proud of them, but I also realize they require some research and planning in order to really kick off collaboration. And perhaps you:
Don’t have the time or space for it (or to do as many as you would like to)
Don’t have clarity yet around how you want to collaborate with others
Are nervous about approaching others first
Still, you want to collaborate and support other writers in a greater capacity.
Last week, after talking to a few CollabStack subscribers and Premium Members, I had an idea for something more simple that we can do monthly—I like to think of it as a lighter form of collaboration, perhaps we call it “CollabLite.”
How to Participate
Find a post (recent or deep in your archive) that you are really proud of and that you wish had gotten more engagement.
Head into the comments and share with us:
The topic of the post (Keep it simple for easy scanning—perhaps 3-4 words)
A quick summary of why you are proud of it and want to share it
A link to the post
Browse the comments from other writers until you find a post that intrigues you. Read it.
Write either a Note or a post inspired by that writer’s post, being sure to tag them, quote them, and/or link to their post.
If you’d like your Note or post to possibly be featured on CollabStack (or restacked by me), please tag me in the post or in the comments:
(@themysticalfarrey).
You can do this with as many posts as you’d like. If you’re inspired by several of them, go for it!
Note: This is not meant to be transactional. Writing about someone else’s work does not mean they are required to write a Note or post for you. All you need to do is pick posts you’re truly inspired by, and start writing! Whether it is a short Note or a long post, just have fun with it.
An Example
I recently wrote a quick Note about about a post from that inspired me to think more deeply about a challenge in my own life. (I honestly could write a whole post about this, too. Maybe I will at some point!)
If you write a Note, you could quote the post like I did here, or you could restack the whole post and provide your commentary/thoughts.
If you choose to write a full post or article, you could tag the other writer, quote them, and/or embed a link to their original post within yours. You could even cross-post, if you are so inspired!
I’ll leave this comment thread open until Saturday, April 19 at 12 AM MT.
My hope is this new “CollabLite” opportunity will give you a simpler way to connect and support other writers that doesn’t involve a lot of prep work. PLUS you get to share one of your own posts that you care about!
And who knows—perhaps these CollabLite opportunities could lead to friendships or bigger collaborations in the future. Continue to remain open to all the possibilities!
For now, I plan to do these the second Monday of each month, so long as there is interest and engagement.
Head into the comments, share, and get inspired!
Love this idea? Please consider sharing this post with your community. The more people participate, the more opportunities there are for collaboration.
More Opportunities to Connect
Hi, I’m Marcy Farrey (pronounced Fairy 🧚♀️ ), and I’m on a mission to help others connect and collaborate in meaningful ways here on Substack. Consider me your Farrey 🧚♀️ Godmother of Collaboration!
If you love CollabStack, it would mean so much to me if you shared CollabStack so more people can participate. This will help our little community grow. Thank you for your support!
Topic: The importance of setting aside regular time for rest
Summary: After years of neglecting myself and experiencing burnout, it finally clicked that I needed to set aside time to rest, recover, and reflect. We aren’t machines. But, even if we were, we’d still get time for routine maintenance.

Topic: Quality contemplative reflection with the moon
I recently listened to a talk, which I share in the post, and how it was so impactful in helping me unpack a deeper way of reflection. I love working with the moon throughout the month. I delve into the idea of the quality of our contemplative questions. And the timing of when we when we do this, and how it can have a severe impact on every aspect of our lives. I’m proud of it because it is my first ‘5 things’ kind of post😄
