Hello friends and future collaborators,
I am excited to invite you to join me in the next phase of CollabStack!
I have many ideas I am excited about, but I’m starting with one important step that will build the foundation for CollabStack: A directory of publications/newsletters that are currently open to featuring other creators and collaborating with them. This includes publications or newsletters that are accepting guest posts, searching for podcast guests, seeking partners for co-written articles, looking for subjects for interviews or profiles, and any other collaborative creative projects.
This directory will ideally be one easy place for you to discover potential publications you can share your work and voice with.
As CollabStack is still very new and I’m a team of one, how I gather this info and organize it will continue to evolve. For now, I am starting with a Google form that you can fill out.
I intend to feature publications from the directory on a regular basis on CollabStack. I’m still developing how these features will look and how often they will be sent out, but I will reach out to let you know if you’re being featured.
And since I noticed from our first post that many of us aren’t yet clear on the specifics of how we’d like to collaborate, I created some prompts (listed below) to help you brainstorm possibilities. The more specific you can be about how you’re looking to collaborate, the better. This makes it much easier for someone to know if they are the right fit. It will also make it easier for you to organize and respond to collaboration requests.
Thank you to all who have supported this idea so far, and I am excited to see where we can take CollabStack! Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions. Just send me a DM or leave a note below.
Clarity on Collaboration Prompts
Use these prompts to brainstorm how you can invite other creators to be featured on your publication.
If you had to start with just one type of collaboration opportunity, which would be most exciting for you to offer?
Some potential opportunities and methods of collaboration include guest posts, podcast interviews, profiles, co-written articles or stories, anthologies, writing or another type of creative challenge, and live in-person or virtual events. If you’re having trouble coming up with something, choosing one of these is a good place to start!
What are some topics you’re interested in but haven’t had a chance to explore yet, or that are perhaps outside your sphere of knowledge? Who might be able to help you fill those gaps?
Who has stories to tell that can add depth and value to what you talk about, write about, or believe in?
Which writing styles or voices might be complementary to yours?
How could an outside perspective or voice benefit your work? How could it be a benefit to your audience/community?
Is there a special category or series you could create for guest contributions? What might some possibilities be?
How often would you like to invite in collaboration on your publication or newsletter?
Use your responses to these prompts to craft an invitation for collaboration that you can share with your community, outlining why featuring other writers is important to you, what topics you’re looking for, who you’re looking to connect with, and how often these opportunities are available.
Know other creators who would love to be a part of the CollabStack Directory? Love the whole idea of CollabStack? Please share and restack this post. The more who know about it, the more robust our directory will become—and the more opportunities there will be for everyone.
Thank you so much for your support!
I include SHOUT OUTS on my Substack newsletter and I’d love some reciprocation! Is that a collab? Love collabing so hit me up!
We're a big fan of this, genuine interaction, broader reach, and more fun.
